Hiking For Conservation.
The Inqua Trail was established by the Robberg Coastal Corridor as a means of both exposing hikers to coastal conservation and to raise funds for the maintenance of the corridor.
The corridor extends between the Robberg Nature reserve and the Harkerville section of the Garden Route National Park and was extended to create a natural corridor across private property's.
Itinerary
Day 1
Guests meet at the Cairnbrogie Dairy for a briefing and to transfer their luggage into their trail boxes. After the briefing about the trail and the conservation objectives of the Robberg Coastal,Corridor, guests are transferred to the Robberg Nature Reserve. The first section is a visit to Nelson's Cave to learn about the archeological history of humans in the area.
We then hike westwards along the shoreline, resting at Tiergat and the amphitheater, before setting out to rock pools for a lunch break.
We finish the day descending to the shoreline to overnight in the unique glamping venue.
Day 2
Our second day starts with an ascent to the plateau, and continues along the coastal cliff top, descending for lunch at Oumaatjies, which has a series of spectacular caves and rock pools to explore and take a swim. After lunch, the route returns to the cliff trail, traversing recovering fynbos (after the 2017 wildfires) with dramatic coastal geology extending east and westwards.
Day 3
The third day starts is a mix of of shoreline and cliff top hiking, finishing at the Kranshoek picnic site, where you are met by a shuttle to return to the base camp at Cairnbrogie Dairy.
