Trail description :
The trail is a fully guided, all-inclusive, 4 day coastal slackpacking trail between Woody Cape and Kenton on Sea with the option of an extra day of canoeing on the Bushmans River. We overnight in chalets en route.

The Dunefields Coastal slackpacking trail starts with a forest loop at Woody Cape before headig to the shoreline. our flagship hike, which traversing the highest density of Pleistocene fossil footprints, is a unique product that combines forest, fynbos, marine and archaeological wonders, crafting a trail that is appreciated by our guests looking to learn about the remarkable processes which formed the current ecology of the region.

The Dunefields Costal Trail is our newest hiking itinerary and includes all the envirnmental components that epitimize our love for nature on a trail.

Itinerary
Trail Format.
The Dunefield Coastal Trail is a point to point journey hiking trail starting at Woody Cape and finishing at Kenton on Sea.The standard coastal trail includes 3 nights accommodation and 4 days of hiking. An extended itinerary includes an extra night and a canoe stage on the Bushmans River.
Daily Stages :
- Day 1 : Meet at 09h30, recieve a trail breifing and hike a 7km dune forest trail.
- Day 2 : 11.5km dune forest hike to the shoreline and overnight behind coastal dune thicket
- Day 3 : 18.5km beach stage, passing fossil dune and calcrete outcrops.
- Day 4 : 12km beach stage, passing Diaz Cross, and finishing at the Bushmans River Mouth, Kenton on Sea
- Day 5 : Optional extra stage - 15km return canoe trip and picnic on the Bushmans River.

Start Dates.
Our departure dates for the Dunefield Coastal Trail are limited and selected to coincide with spring low tides so that the beach stages are walked on firm sand at low tide. Please contact Mark for trail dates.
